Bees make further addition to squad

The Bracknell Bees are pleased to announce a further addition to their 2016/17 English Premier Ice Hockey League squad.

26 year old Rupert Quiney has agreed to join the Bees for the rest of this season to aid in their push for a playoff spot.

The 6’4” London born defenceman had re-joined the Guildford Flames at the start of this season but was released by the club in late November after they had re-signed David Savage and Sam Godfrey had returned from injury.

Quiney started his career at Streatham where he was part of the U16 Scorpions and U19 Royals for five seasons before being called up to the ENIHL Redskins.   He split his time between the senior and junior sides for a further two seasons before a full time move to the senior side in 2008/09.   Between 2009 and 2012 Quiney headed to Canada where he was part of the GMHL Toronto Canada Moose before a return to the UK in 2012.   Two seasons with the Elite League Cardiff Devils followed before a move to the English Premier Ice Hockey League with the Telford Tigers.   In his one season with the Shropshire side Quiney was part of their League and Cup Champion side and followed that up the following season with the same Championship double, this time with the Guildford Flames.

With over 80 Elite League and nearly 100 English Premier Ice Hockey League appearances to his name and two League & Playoff Double winning seasons under his belt Quiney will bolster the Bees blue line both physically and with experience.

Lukas Smital, Bracknell Bees player/coach said of the signing:
“With the club looking to make a push for a play-off spot when we heard that Rupert was available we had no hesitation in securing his signing.  His experience and size will certainly boost our defence following the departure of Carl Graham in December and will be valuable moving forward.   He is a solid, no nonsense defenceman and we look forward to his contribution for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.“

With this seasons Own & Loan jerseys having all sold out there is now the chance for you to take part in the 2016/17 Jersey Own & Loan scheme by Owning & Loaning Rupert’s jerseys.   There are two jerseys available:

White or Black jersey (£80 for either or a special offer price of £135 for the pair) – full details available at the following link – http://tinyurl.com/jpupq8e – please note the successful Own & Loan winner will not have their name on the back of the shirts in Rupert’s case to speed up delivery of the jerseys and hence the slightly discounted price.
