The Bracknell Bees would like to update their valued sponsors, fans and partners as to their current position regarding the future of the club and clarify their situation around the current league arrangements.
To begin we wish to apologise for not communicating anything recently but since the final game of last season we have been very busy in negotiations and discussions with the John Nike Leisuresport Complex management, the Bracknell (Junior) Ice Hockey Club (BIHC), the EIHA, League officials and some of the other team owners around both the future of the Bees and Ice Hockey at Bracknell, the working relationships between all parties and the position that the remaining EPIHL teams are currently in. These discussions, especially those with the John Nike Leisuresport Complex management and BIHC have been very encouraging and productive. We would like to especially thank Mr Daniel Lawrence – Group Operations Director for JNL Group and Mr Rory Gavin, Chairman of the BIHC for their outstanding advice, support and cooperation.
We can confirm, along with the other remaining EPIHL clubs that we received an email from the EIHA Chairman Ken Taggart in which he advised the teams to apply for a place in the NIHL whilst discussions continue around a second tier of ice hockey in the UK.
The Bracknell Bees are today confirming that they have made a formal application to the EIHA for the club to take part in NIHL South 1 next season and that representatives from the clubs’ management will be attending the NIHL meeting on 7th May.
Rest assured that we are actively working hard on all fronts to secure the future of the Bracknell Bees at The Hive and at the highest level of sustainable ice hockey available to us within the league structure next season. Alongside the existing NIHL team owners we wish to make a firm commitment to building and sustaining a successful league structure and will work in full cooperation with the other team owners building on the successes of last season. The continued pathway and progression of home grown talent and our junior players will be our primary focus.
Finally, we wish to thank everyone for their continued support and patience during this time of unrest and guarantee that once negotiations are complete and details are confirmed we will update everyone as soon as possible.
