The Bracknell Bees are pleased to announce that twenty-one year old Reading born defenceman Harvey Stead has agreed to return to the team for the upcoming NIHL Division 1 South campaign.
Stead started his hockey with the Bracknell Ice Hockey Club at an early age, progressing through the junior teams to the U16’s Stingers, U18’s Drones (where he was team Captain and led the side to the U18’s Championship), as well as the NIHL Hornets before making his senior debut with the Bees back in 2013-14. The following season Harvey signed a full time contract with the Bees and notched up seventy seven appearances.
A move along the M4 to the Swindon Wildcats came at the start of the 2015-16 season before returning to the Bees at the start of last season. Picking up two goals and fourteen assists the young defenceman impressed on the Bees blue-line last campaign.
With three Team GB tournament appearances also racked up, one at U18 level and the other two at U20 level, winning a gold medal in 2014/15 in Div2A and bronze in 2015/16 in Div1B as well as nearly 200 EPIHL matches under his belt Stead boasts a level of experience for someone his age.
An intelligent, well-disciplined defenceman Stead will be a solid addition to the Bees blue-line for the forthcoming campaign.
Bees Head Coach Scott Spearing said on the re-signing of Stead:
“After a lot of interest from other coaches around the league I’m glad that I have been able to retain Harvey for next season. His hockey has matured and has found his identity as a player which I have space for in the squad. I’m looking forward to Harvey pushing himself to improve on the success he’s had in the last few seasons.“
As in previous seasons we are happy to announce that Harvey’s jerseys will be available as part of our 2017-18 Own & Loan Jersey scheme.
The Light or Dark jerseys are both available and complete details of the scheme and the jersey designs will be released soon but if you are interested in participating in this great opportunity then please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the details of the jersey you are interested in.
All shirts are sold on a first come, first served basis and the process is that you “own” the jersey and “loan” it back to the player for the season to wear. The jersey will then be presented to the owner at the end of the season at a time and date to be arranged.
