This coming weekend the Bracknell Bees start their weekend’s action on Saturday with a short road trip along the M4 to take on their local rivals the Swindon Wildcats (5.45pm) before returning home to The Hive on Sunday to face the English Premier Leagues second placed side the Milton Keynes Lightning (6pm faceoff).
The Wildcats currently sit fifth in the league table and had a four point weekend last time out with wins over the Milton Keynes Lightning and Sheffield Steeldogs. The Bees took on the Wildcats only a fortnight ago, this time at The Hive, and the Bees came away with the narrow win. Games between the two sides this season have been tight, tense and physical affairs with only one game decided by more than one goal and three games decided by overtime, all in favour of the Wildcats. In the last regular season meeting of the two sides the Bees be looking to add another win over their local rivals on Saturday evening at The Link Centre as they try to close down the Sheffield Steeldogs for the final playoff spot.
With the league title now secured by the Telford Tigers the Milton Keynes Lightning will visit The Hive on Sunday with second place in the league all but wrapped up but are sure to still prove a very tough opposition for the Bees in what will be the last regular season meeting of these two sides at The Hive for the foreseeable future. The Lightning are joining the Elite Ice Hockey League next season and so this game is the penultimate meeting of the sides, with the teams meeting again next weekend, away in Milton Keynes. Defeat last Saturday at Swindon saw the Lightning’s challenge for the league title end but the Bees cannot take the Lightning lightly as they have four wins from four over the Bracknell side so far this season. The Bees will need to get back to their form from a couple of weekends ago in order to get anything from the game at The Hive.
Tickets for this Sundays home game v Milton Keynes Lightning are now available from the rink box office on 01344 789000 or can be purchased on the day.
